Influence of DETA on Thermal and Corrosion Protection Properties of GPTMS-TEOS Hybrid Coatings on Q215 Steel

High-performance coating could be used to protect steels in engineering. The GPTMS-TEOS hybrid coatings were successfully prepared using (3-glycidoxypropyl) trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as reaction raw materials diethylenetriamine (DETA) both a curing agent catalyst at room temperature. contained amorphous SiO2 was characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission (TEM). DETA content the has significant impact on performance coating. As increases, thermal stability increases 400–600 °C due production more amine-rich state. However, gelation time decreases dramatically, preventing from better infiltrating surface steel substrate. In addition, there are not enough silicon hydroxyl groups bond with carbon adhesion is significantly reduced. Therefore, moderate (NH:epoxy ratio equivalent 1:1) show best corrosion resistance, third-order magnitude increase resistance compared that steel.
